Dilettanti Society collection

Description
Contains the remnant of the library of a Glasgow art appreciation society which existed from 1825 until the mid-1840s. The material mostly consists of exhibition catalogues and manuscript records of the Society and much of it is rare or unique. The collection was donated at the eclipse of the Society to Anderson's College.

Undergraduate students of Glasgow, Glasgow Caledonian, and Paisley Universities, and RSAMD and Glasgow School of Art admitted for reference only on presentation of a matriculation card. Students and staff of other institutions require a letter of introduction. Member of SCONUL Access (http://www.access.sconul.ac.uk/) for Bands A (staff and research students), B (part time, distance learning and placement students), and C (full time taught postgraduate students). There is an additional arrangement for University of Glasgow staff and higher degree research students. Subscription membership available to others on application.
